Limnocharis flava

Limnocharis flava (L.) Buchenau (Famili : Limnocharitaceae), local name paku rawan, is a wetland plant. It is commonly found in the padi/rice fields particularly at the sides of the irrigation canals. The stem is soft and have laege air space to allow it staying erect or partially erect by resisting the water stream. The flowers including the stalks had been used by the padi planters as a source of vegetable. However the modern day population may have forgotten the "antics" of their predecessors.
