Asystasia intrusa

Asystasia intrusa (Family: Acanthaceae) is a perennial weed, which can be found anywhere and everywhere in Malaysia. It grows very fast, but in term of land colonization, from my very limited observation it seems not to be invasive. The flowers are relatively small, but I like the purple patch which colours the lower petal-like structure.

It is a weed though there are claims that it is a kind of herb. I guess if the plant grows to the extent that it is just enough to provide for human benefits, it is a herb, but if it grows to the extent that it hinders human activities, then it is considered a weed. Pity.

Control can be done manually or by using weedicides.
