Sakura

Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom. The species that produce the beautiful blossom is Prunus serrulata, which is commonly called Japanese Cherry.  These plants are specially cultivated for ornamental use and landscape beautification, and they are usually fruitless. The genus Prunus is classified in the plant Famili Rosaceae.

Cherry blossom occurs when a cherry plant recovers from winter dormancy. While in dormancy, all the leaves have been shed. During late winter or/and early spring the first regrowth is made of only the flowers. After one to three weeks most of  flowers have fallen lushes of leaves began to appear.  When all plants in an area are flowering at the same time, an atmosphere of vibrancy, joy and relaxation, can be felt.
