Tradescantia spathacea

The common type is green with purplish colouration at the margin. The underneath of the leaves is purple. On the other hand the variegata from is having leaves with longitudinal variegation. The leaves look like having parallel  green, white and purplish strips

The two forms may not exactly "exclusive". Observations show that the variegated form can produce non-variegated wholly purple leaves. When this shoots are planted the can reproduce the variegated form.
