Magnolia

Magnolia is a genus of the plant Family Magnoliaceae. This large genus has been subjected to various classification studies with the result that two levels between genus and species are erected. These are sub-genus and section.

One Magnolia plant, commonly called egg magnolia has been given different scientific names, which  are spread across the sub-genus and sections.  These are Michelia pumila, Talauma pumila, Talauma candollei, and Magnolia liliifera.

Recent attempts in the resolve classification ambiguity of Magnolia, have resorted to the use of molecular method.  A berief description can be obtained from this article: http://www.magnoliasociety.org/ClassificationArticle.
